    **Wednesday - Sunday 10am – 6pm* Evening and weekend work is required for outreach events and special activities.**

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plans, organizes and directs recreational/specialized activities.
  • Plan, organize, and lead structured daily activities and groups that support youth development, recovery, and healthy peer interaction.
  • Implement and maintain the daily activity and recreation schedule in accordance with program structure and treatment goals.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to coordinate diverse recreational and educational opportunities.
  • Facilitate youth participation in skill-building, self-expression, and recreation that contribute to growth and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of program activities, attendance, and outcomes per agency and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure all activities are safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed, accommodating the unique behavioral health needs of participants.
  • Serve as the designated Outreach Lead for the program in accordance with Florida Network standards.
  • Participate in local DJJ Board and council meetings to represent the agency, build partnerships, and promote services.
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies targeting youth and communities at highest risk for delinquency.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to complete and submit the annual Outreach Plan by February 1st, identifying target populations and engagement goals.
  • Maintain documentation of all outreach efforts, including stakeholder meetings, event minutes, attendance logs, and educational presentations.
  • Establish and maintain written agreements with community partners, detailing mutual services, referral processes, and follow-up procedures.
  • Forward all finalized partnership agreements to the Florida Network as required.
  • Provide community education about program services and ensure accessibility information is communicated effectively.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:  Associate degree or higher in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Recreation, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered. Minimum one (1) year of experience working with at-risk youth or in a behavioral health, recreation, or outreach setting.

Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal automobile insurance if required to drive an SMA vehicle and/or use a personal vehicle for SMA business. Complete State of Florida mandatory background screening prior to start of employment.  Complete SMA required training during the first six (6) months of employment and update if required.

Physical: Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 10 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client health care needs. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance ability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible. Routine 8-12 hour shifts. Hours and days off may vary. Extra hours may be required. The ability to perform physical interventions with clients when necessary as established by the Mandt System.
