Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead efforts to foster and strengthen relationships with law enforcement, community organizations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary meetings involving case management, DCF, and SMA to address the needs of the children's unit.
  • Ensure safe, appropriate, and timely discharges for children with behavioral health challenges, collaborating with families and community partners.
  • Partner with SMA Children's Services to facilitate necessary referrals for case management and community assistance.
  • Upload and maintain Baker Act records within the DCF system to ensure compliance and accurate documentation.
  • Serve as the liaison with the Marion County Clerk of Courts, managing court-related communications and coordination.
  • Maintain and oversee the court docket for the inpatient unit.
  • Expand and enhance community resource options to support successful discharges and ongoing care

Minimum Education and/or Experience:  Master's Degree in a Human Services related field required.  Certification as an Addictions Professional (CAP) preferred.  Licensed as a LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in the State of Florida required.  Five years of progressively responsible experience in the behavioral health field including a minimum of three years supervisory experience in program development and supervision.  Equivalent experience in the delivery of services to the target population in a supervisory capacity may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities: 

  • Extensive knowledge of substance abuse, mental health, psychiatry, counseling, and correctional procedure.
  • Extensive knowledge of methods, theories, techniques and principles of providing direct clinical treatment, consultation, and direction to children and/or adults who have been identified as experiencing difficulty due to mental illness, substance abuse, or other behavioral problems, to include involvement in the criminal justice system.
  • Extensive knowledge of rules, regulations, safety procedures, state, federal, and local laws, and legislative requirements pertaining to treatment programs and program compliance.
  • Considerable knowledge of personnel and administrative policies and procedures, as well as knowledge of principles of supervision.
  • Experience with program budgetary planning. 
  • Ability to supervise and guide the work of others in making complex client treatment/clinical decisions.
  • Ability to incorporate cultural and age appropriate care into all aspects of communication and client care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with other employees, program staff, clients, outside organizations, and others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, medical and clinical professionals, and the general public.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise written reports.   

Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal automobile insurance if required to drive an SMA vehicle and/or use a personal vehicle for SMA business. Complete State of Florida mandatory background screening prior to start of employment.  Complete SMA required training during the first six (6) months of employment and updated if required.

Physical: Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 10 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client health care needs. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance ability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible. Routine 8-12 hour shifts. Hours and days off may vary. Extra hours may be required. Work assignment locations may vary.
