Rest Area Attendant

Essential Job Functions: (May not include all duties performed.)

  • Sweeps and mops all vinyl and ceramic tile floors. Cleans baseboards.
  • Empties, cleans and relines waste baskets and sanitary containers.
  • Cleans and sanitizes urinals, toilets, sinks, showers, wall partitions, fixtures and replenishes restroom supplies.
  • Cleans office and storage areas.
  • Cleans stall walls, top of stalls, ceiling fixtures, vents and other surfaces as required.
  • Picks up litter in flower beds, surrounding landscape, entrance and exit ramps and picnic areas.
  • Cleans foyer area, wipes down water faucets, benches, bulletin boards and newspaper racks.
  • Maintains awareness of proper safety procedures, guidelines and applies procedures in daily activities and tasks.
  • Performs other work assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:  There are no special educational requirements of this position.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities:  Must be dependable, hard-working individual who is in good health, follows directions well, and gets along with other people. Ability to perform manual labor. Willingness to learn methods of cleaning.  Knowledge of custodial tasks and responsibilities, and understanding of custodial materials and chemicals.  Ability to safely work with equipment and mild chemicals common to the trade and do so in a manner safe to oneself, others in the area, and to the environment.

Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, proof of personal automobile insurance, and have acceptable driving record if required to drive Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral vehicle and/or use personal vehicle for SMA business.

Physical: Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day.Ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs. Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.  Regularly works in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance ability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible. Routine 8-12  hour shifts. Hours and days off may vary. Extra hours may be required. Work assignment locations may vary.
