Essential Job Functions: 

  • Facilitates implementation and coordination of services.
  • Ensures a safe, secure, and legal work environment by ensuring that the program is following regulatory practices that comply with HIPPA, OSHA, AHCA and other applicable governmental regulations.
  • Demonstrates effective crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques. 
  • Demonstrates effective cost management strategies, and coordinates resources.
  • Monitors and evaluates services and outcomes, assesses benefit value to cost, reviews plans for continuity of care, and facilitates plan modifications as indicated. 
  • Assesses customer satisfaction and compliance with services. 
  • Demonstrates appropriate techniques in monitoring and evaluation of services and outcomes.
  • Advocates for customers as required.
  • Documents activities, records services and outcomes, and submits confidential reports as required.
  • Understands requirements of various funding sources in use by SMA.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to their program(s).
  • Understands the role of the interdisciplinary team, and encourages participation from all persons involved. 
  • Produces appropriate reports to internal and external customers as required. 
  • Ensures that assigned personnel are informed of all pertinent information they need to perform their roles effectively, and that they are held accountable for meeting all applicable administrative standards, practices and requirements. 
  • Completes accurate and timely performance evaluations on assigned staff.
  • Effectively participates in assigned committee meetings, both internal and external.
  • Professionally represents the agency to all consumers, and to the public.
  • Monitors and maintains all components of the facility such as buildings, grounds, equipment, etc. for safety and cleanliness as required by program.
  • Performs others tasks as required.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:  Graduation from an accredited school with a Bachelor's Degree in an area pertinent to the program/department responsibilities, and two years of directly related experience required.  One year of experience providing supervision preferred.  Additional education, experience, and/or certification may be required per program/department guidelines.  As allowed by program/department, a combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities: 

  • Must be competent in providing leadership to assigned staff, and management of all aspects of the operation of the program. 
  • Must be familiar with and demonstrate competence in various behavior management modalities and models useful in the behavioral management of adults. 
  • Must have excellent communications skills and be able to interact with staff and stakeholders in a professional and diplomatic manner.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality and exceptional de-escalation skills. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of community referral resources and make appropriate referrals to those resources to meet the needs of clients. 
  • Demonstrates familiarity with software programs used at SMA, or the ability to learn them in a reasonable period of time. 

Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal automobile insurance if required to drive an SMA vehicle and/or use a personal vehicle for SMA business. Complete State of Florida mandatory background screening prior to start of employment.  Complete SMA required training during the first six (6) months of employment and updated if required.

Physical: Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 10 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client health care needs.  Fine motor skills for legible and accurate writing of reports, charting, scheduling, daily correspondence and presentation.  Work endurance ability to work an 8 to 13 hour day with a lunch break as possible.  Routine 8 to 12 hour shifts.  Hours and days off may vary.  Weekend and after hour coverage will be required.  Extra hours/rotation of shift may be required.  On call duties will be required.
