Essential Job Functions: 

  • Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of Contract Supervisors at multiple janitorial and landscaping contract sites.
  • Responsible for scheduling, training, recommending the hiring and terminating of Contract Supervisors and contract employees and inspecting work of Contract Supervisors to ensure adherence to standards (Scope of Services/Statement of Work, SourceAmerica, NISH, RESPECT of Florida, CARF, ISO, etc.).
  • Performs direct labor of janitorial or landscaping duties as needed. May require work in inclement weather.
  • On call required to ensure management of 24/7 rest area. May need to report at site during atypical hours if required for coverage or an emergency.
  • Checks payroll data, supply orders and equipment maintenance records.
  • Ability to coordinate numerous contracts in regards to scheduling and deployment of personnel in order to achieve the most productive and most cost effective quality job possible.
  • Provides direct and indirect training and support for Contract Supervisors on an individual basis; provides positive reinforcement; serves as a role model; addresses behavior/performance problems.
  • Ability to frequently address and resolve problems quickly.
  • Completes all required reports on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
  • Communicates effectively, orally and in writing with employees, the public, SourceAmerica NISH/RESPECT, other agencies, etc.; ensures compliance with the rules and regulations of the contract.
  • Operates equipment to perform essential functions. Ability to standardize procedures for janitorial and floor care throughout all service contracts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED and four (4) years experience in the janitorial and/or landscaping fields including (2) two years of progressively responsible supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities: 

  • Good knowledge of the basic principles, methods, practices and procedures used in
  • Knowledge of the chemicals and hazards associated with cleaning supplies and/or lawn equipment.
  • Ability to plan, instruct, assign and supervise other supervisory staff.
  • Ability to inspect work and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ability to utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage Contract Supervisors to obtain their maximum potential.
  • Ability to intervene and utilize de-escalation skill techniques to ensure the safety and well being of all employees.

Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal automobile insurance if required to drive an SMA vehicle and/or use a personal vehicle for SMA business. Complete State of Florida mandatory background screening prior to start of employment.  Complete SMA required training during the first six (6) months of employment and updated if required.

Physical: Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 30 pounds. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate writing of reports, scheduling, daily correspondence and presentation.  Work endurance ability to work an 8 to 13 hour day with a lunch break as possible.  Routine 8 to 12 hour shifts.  Hours and days off may vary.  Weekend and after hour coverage will be required.  Extra hours/rotation of shift may be required.  On call duties will be required.
