Volunteer

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Works cooperatively as a reliable team member to complete volunteer assignments.
  • Understands the ethical and legal responsibilities involved and maintains strict confidentiality regarding the privacy of client records, clients, and program personnel.
  • Completes all duties assigned by the supervisor and reports any issues immediately.
  • Observes the rules and safety regulations of the organization while carrying out tasks.
  • Arrives on time for duty and remains professional in interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Attends training/in-services as required.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:  Volunteers may be parents/guardians, community members, senior citizens or students whose participation supports an SMA Healthcare, Inc. program, activity or event.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities

  • Some knowledge of the human services field.
  • Some knowledge of behavior management techniques.
  • Ability to serve as a role model.

Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal automobile insurance if required to drive an SMA vehicle and/or use a personal vehicle for SMA business. Complete State of Florida mandatory background screening prior to start of employment.  Complete SMA required training during Orientation and update if required.

Physical: Depending on the volunteer activity: may require mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day; ability to lift minimum 10 pounds; visual and auditory acuity sufficient for the requirements of the volunteer position; fine motor skills for legible and accurate writing. Work assignment locations may vary.
