Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and facilitating the monthly New Employee Orientation/Annual Trainings.
  • Schedule trainings at the various SMA locations to accommodate staff.
  • Ensure quality internal and external customer care and service.
  • Provide training to clinical, administrative and supervisory personnel as needed on specific training projects.
  • Conduct training as appropriate.
  • Work with Training Manager to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing trainings.
  • Train supervisors in techniques and skills for training and dealing with staff.
  • Enter training data within SMA Healthcare's learning systems.
  • Keep supervisor apprised of any recurring issues with training facilitation and suggest ways to increase accuracy of information and efficacy of courses.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as requested by supervisor.
  • Select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
  • Provide technical assistance to clinical, administrative and supervisory personnel as needed on specific training projects.
  • Assist Training Manager with maintaining a comprehensive training plan and master schedule for agency.
  • Provide evaluations of training activities and develop appropriate documentation and reporting mechanisms in order to measure effectiveness of trainings provided to and by agency staff.
  • Ensures that information on agency and outside training opportunities is made available to agency staff.
  • Interacts professionally with all levels of agency personnel and the community.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Experience: Bachelors' Degree in a relevant field and a minimum of one (1) year training experience, is preferred, however, any combination of education and experience may be substituted for the required degree and experience.  Must have the following certifications or have completed within 6 months of hire:  Certified Instructor in:  CPR/First Aid, The Mandt System all levels.  Additional certifications may be required depending on funder requirements.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities:

    · Coordinate and facilitate new team member orientation and other agency-wide training programs.

    · Deliver engaging instructor-led, virtual and hands-on training for clinical, administrative, supervisory and support team members.

    · Adapt instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and operational needs.

    · Serve as an instructor for Basic Life Support (BLS), The Mandt System, and other required certifications as assigned.

    · Maintain a professional, engaging learning environment that promotes participation and knowledge retention.

    · Support implementation of new programs, workflows, technology, policies and organizational initiatives through effective training.

    · Support the maintenance of accurate training records within learning management system.

    · Assist with internal and external audits related to team member education and training records.

    · Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external team members and leaders.

    · Recommend improvements to increase learner engagement, knowledge, retention and overall effectiveness.

    · Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education

    · High school diploma or GED required.

    · Bachelor's degree in Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Behavioral Health, or a related field preferred.

    Experience

    · Minimum of one (1) year of experience delivering adult education, team member development, healthcare training, or organizational learning preferred.

    · Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and demonstrated training expertise may be considered.

    Licensure/Certification

    Must obtain the following certifications within six (6) months of hire unless already certified:

    · Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor

    · The Mandt System Instructor

    · Additional instructor certifications as required by SMA Healthcare or funding sources

    Skills

    · Knowledge of adult learning principles and effective training techniques.

    Background Requirements

    · Valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

    · Proof of automobile insurance when operating a personal vehicle for SMA business.

    · Successful completion of required Level II background screening.

    · Completion of all required SMA onboarding and annual mandatory training.

    · Ability to travel throughout SMA Healthcare's service area as needed.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and travel between SMA Healthcare locations throughout the service area. The Training Specialist must be able to lift and transport training materials and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. Frequent computer use, classroom facilitation, audiovisual equipment operation, and interaction with team members in office and clinical environments are required. Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to meet organizational training needs.
