Janitor

Essential Job Functions:  (May not include all tasks as each contract site is specific to customer requests.)

  • Removes trash and recycling, disposes in designed areas. Clean trash containers inside and out and replenishes liner. Vacuums all carpeted areas and rugs. Sweeps/dust mops and wet mops all ceramic and hard floors. Wet dusts/vacuums base boards.
  • Cleans, sanitizes and disinfects urinals, toilets, stall partitions, sinks, vanities, fixtures, showers, walls, in restrooms. Replenishes all soap, paper and plastic products. Sweep and mop floors.
  • Washes windows, window sills, blinds/window coverings. Vacuum and clean furniture. Spot clean stains.
  • Wet/dry dust most horizontal surfaces, not touching work related or personal items on desks. Dust ceiling fixtures, air conditioning and return vents.
  • Removes and disposes of litter in entrance ways, hallways, lobby/waiting rooms, outdoor sitting and recreational areas.
  • Maintains awareness of proper safety procedures and guidelines, applies cleaning procedures to meet standards.
  • Performs other work as assigned by supervision.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:  There are no special educational requirements for this position.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities:  Must be dependable, hard-working individual who is in good health, follows directions well, and gets along with other people. Ability to perform manual labor and willingness to learn methods of cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting. Knowledge of custodial tasks and responsibilities, and understanding of custodial materials and chemicals.  Ability to safely work with equipment and mild chemicals common to the trade and do so in a manner safe to oneself, others in the area, and to the environment.

Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, proof of personal automobile insurance, and have acceptable driving record if required to drive Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral vehicle and/or use personal vehicle for SMA business.

Physical: Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs. Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.  Regularly works in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance ability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible. Routine 8-12  hour shifts. Hours and days off may vary. Extra hours may be required. Work assignment locations may vary.
